Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 28, 2026. This policy explains how Bitemora handles personal information when you visit this site, use the mobile app, create shared links, subscribe through the App Store, or contact support. Unless stated otherwise for a specific service, Oleg Kuksa acts as the controller of the personal data described here.
Controller
The controller for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy is Oleg Kuksa. For privacy questions or data-rights requests, you can contact us at contact@bitemora.cc.
Information we collect
We may collect account details such as your email address, authentication provider, and installation or session identifiers; onboarding inputs such as age and body metrics; nutrition entries you save in the diary; weight entries; meal photos and scan metadata; support messages; push notification device data such as push token, app locale, and timezone; subscription status and transaction metadata received from Apple; and technical diagnostics needed to keep the service working.
Why we process information and legal bases
We process personal data to provide the features you request, including sign-in, meal scanning, diary history, weight tracking, progress views, account recovery, purchase restoration, and support. Depending on the context, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in securing and improving the service, and compliance with legal obligations.
Health-related and nutrition information
Bitemora processes nutrition entries, body measurements, weight history, and meal-photo analysis to provide food tracking and progress features. Some of this information may be considered health-related or otherwise sensitive under certain laws. Where required by applicable law, we rely on your explicit consent or another permitted legal basis to process this category of information.
Meal photos and nutrition records
If you choose to scan meals, the app processes food photos to recognize items and estimate nutrition. Depending on your privacy settings, Bitemora may keep original photos, lighter thumbnail versions, or neither after processing. Nutrition entries and related metadata may be stored so your diary and progress screens continue to work, and you can use available in-app controls to delete stored photos or history.
Sharing features
If you create a shared scan link, Bitemora may generate a public URL that displays selected meal details until that link expires, is revoked, or is otherwise removed. Please share these links carefully, because anyone with the link may be able to view the shared content during that period.
Analytics and diagnostics
If enabled, Bitemora may collect limited usage analytics and technical diagnostics to understand failures, measure feature usage, and improve reliability. Analytics collection is intended to be optional where the app provides an analytics control, and you can change that choice in supported settings. We may still process limited operational logs and security events when necessary to protect the service, investigate abuse, or comply with legal obligations.
Service providers and data sharing
We may use infrastructure, storage, authentication, analytics, customer-support, push-delivery, and App Store-related service providers that process information on our behalf. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, to process your requested transactions, or to protect users, the service, and our legal rights.
International transfers
Our service providers and technical infrastructure may process data in countries other than the one where you live, including countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards for these transfers.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the service, maintain your account, provide requested features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and use case. Where the app provides controls to delete stored photos, clear diary history, or reset account-related data, those actions may also remove corresponding server-side records tied to your account, depending on the action you choose.
Your rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent, and data portability. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below and include enough information for us to verify your request.
Children
Bitemora is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that age group. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.
Contact
For privacy questions or data-rights requests, contact Oleg Kuksa at contact@bitemora.cc. If you contact us about a privacy request, please include the email address associated with your account, if available, and a short description of your request.
App Store privacy summary
For App Store privacy disclosures, Bitemora currently describes collection of email address, meal photos or videos, health-related nutrition and weight information, purchase history, user identifiers, product interaction analytics, and other diagnostic data. These data types may be linked to your Bitemora account because they are used to provide app features, maintain subscriptions, measure product usage, and diagnose issues. Bitemora does not sell personal information and does not use this data for third-party tracking across apps or websites.
Account deletion
Authenticated users can request account deletion inside the app from Settings by choosing Delete Account. When deletion succeeds, Bitemora permanently deletes the account and associated in-app data stored by the Bitemora backend, including sign-in identities, scans, diary/history, weights, device records, analytics events, subscription linkage, and stored scan assets where applicable. Apple subscription billing remains managed by your Apple Account, and limited billing or legal records may be retained where required by law.
